This republican spirit would not suffer men in high place to bring ruin on their country and on themselves. It would reform, not by destroying, but by saving, the great, the rich, and the powerful.

While I appreciate your internet lore, Burke's Reflections were a decisive influence on turning de Maistre into a conservative and he praises Burke in his Considerations. Burke was also excommunicated by the Whigs after writing Reflections. The fundamental difference between Burke and Maistre comesd down to Protestant and Catholic and that's about it
