Great mix between pictures and text, making it a very easy read.

The author really captured something about being an outcast teenager

Read the first one in like 2nd grade back when it just had taken off. Almost every boy had read it back then. The "cheese touch" was a literal thing that went around our school as kind of an inside joke / proto-meme.

I liked the first book. I remember really enjoying how the book was actually almost like a diary. With different segments commenting on different times of the year. Much like how you can watch a christmas episode of a tv show around Christmas. I could re-read the Halloween segment around Halloween when I was a kid.

I never finished the 2nd book and lost interest. Forgot about the entire thing until the movies came out a few years ago. Didn't watch those either.

This is the main reason. It captures the struggle of the proto incel so well that it rivals To Kill A Mockingbird with it's self reflective prose

Not sure, but I remember really enjoying it back in the day. Mom bought it for my 25th birthday and I couldn't put it down

I remember as a elementary schooler ranting about how all the sequels just repeated the same plot and no one understanding what I was saying.

Teenagers didn’t read Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it was (and is) a fucking picture book.

Read this in class, 6th grade
That Sri Lankan bitch Lauren made fun of me for it. Next thing I know everybody starts cracking jokes because they wanted to get in her pants. One year later it becomes popular and every faggot in class is reading it. I still have the first print copy of this shitty ass book. I'm still bitter about this

I was reading as it was being posted on FunBrain while having buttered toast and hot cocoa in the morning before school. Was the comfiest time in my life.
