Crazy to think that since 1906 the academic consensus on Jesus has held that Jesus literally believed the apocalypse would happen within his lifetime, with God coming down to overthrow the wicked and permanently eliminate injustice in the world, before establishing the Kingdom of God on earth which would then be ruled over by Jesus and his apostles
