>“Good morning. Sir Bearington, I presume?” Joe’s words were seemingly ignored, so he decided to get to the point. “I am here as a representative of my guild. Within three days, the majority of my guild will be joining us in the area. We have been charged by the Kingdom to bring this area back under the banner of Ardania, and I would love for us to begin our relationship on a positive note. Is there anything that we can do for the town that would allow us-”
>The mayor stood, and at full height, he was an unbelievable eight feet tall. His eyes narrowed, and he glared at Joe before speaking with a booming voice. It seemed he had a cold, though, because a few of his words seemed a bit twisted. “You walk in here and tell me you want us to be friends at the same time that you are saying that your guild is coming to take over no matter what we do? To me, it seems that you should be treated as invaders coming to destroy our way of life, our entire bearitage!”
Hmm. Sounds MIGHTY familiar.

There was this one Dragonlance short story I read one time that really stuck with me, it was about this minotaur and his friends who took a voyage on a submarine to this island and they encountered these spooky shadow creatures that erased the people they killed from existence, including their friends' memory. In the end it's just the minotaur wondering what he's doing on a submarine and who these other people are in the diary he was writing, he doesn't know anybody with those names. This was in the same anthology that gave me a dryad fetish.

Any good books that are horror-scifi or horror-fantasy? Most books of these two genres usually are not horror or scary in nature. Sure they have spooky parts or some dark themes but nothing scifi or fantasy with a very strong spook or horror factor to it. If you have Dead Space on Xbox or PC then that would be a good example of what im looking for. Or a fantasy setting where instead of some ancient evil threatens the land where armies and wizards have to fight it, its some sort of biological threat.

I'll try posting this here one more time and then I'm giving up. I'm looking for any good series about humans being replaced over time by a transhuman, post-human, or human-like successor. And please, for the love of God, nothing like Wraeththu, I'm not in this for pseudo-homosexual romance, I'm in this for species supremacy and creepy, predatory interspecies dynamics.

Pic sort of related. Definitely doesn't have the vibe I'm going for, but the disturbing reality is there underneath the facade.

Fuck this cuck author and his shitty cuck ass books along with his stupid pirate books. This is literally shit straight out of ntr porn, chad pirate tries to rape and seduce the female pov character who is also the love interest of our male pov character. Luckily, he fails, despite our female pov being wetter then a waterfall at the thought of fucking this guy. No doubt due to the editor reigning in the author's cuck fantasies. But wait it gets better, in the pirate fag sequels we get the male pov's school bully, who is hot as fuck, end up fucking the brains out of the pirate chad. To make matters it turns out that pirate chad is a fucking idiot and only succeeding in life due to his diviner brother. Fucker literally made the sociopathic bull a literal retard who would get stomped by the male pov character. Literally what kind of stupid fetish is this, a bull who you can beat up? This is some advanced cuckery faggotry.

Any Sci-Fi or Fantasy books with a heavy horror/supernatrual theme to it? Its usually either alien invasion or ancient evil which is fine but I want something new and unique. Biohazard contagion type thing in a fantasy setting with court wizards trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Or a good horror set in space on a ship like the Dead Space game if you are familiar with it (engineering ship responds to SOS call of a mining ship, all creq dead, weird creatures all over it, humans getting brainwashed or killed by undead and evil alien artifact, government trying to kill everyone off) Would make a great novel honestly.

I think horror scifi would be more common than horror fantasy.

That being said, I feel like I'm going to make less money if I ever take the dive into fantasy fiction. Is there a place for understanding the market? world destroying asteroids are astronomically rare events. we know this because we haven't been wiped out by one in a few million years. alien civilizations are likely, but despite centuries of observation we have yet to spot conclusive evidence of complex life anywhere in our galactic neighborhood.

in contrast, catastrophic climate changes have happened numerous times in human history, and right now, our projected climate change is way above any natural shif that we've seen before.

you're an idiot for letting political rhetoric and corporate propaganda blind you to universal scientific consensus, especially when our civilization's life is on the fucking line

No. Don't get me wrong, those things are products, not works of art. You need little literary skill to write them. It doesn't mean they are easy to make. You need the skill to identify what consumers want, which is extremely specific and a constantly moving target, and how to write it in a way attractive to the audience. Those skills are rare enough that most light novels don't sell.

Lyonesse, maybe, is straight across home plate but some people might not catch the unique tone since it's so buried in a traditional form. I loved Araminta Station but it has a similar problem -- too "straight" while also being hilarious. It's hard to say because at one point I just "caught it" and now I want others to see through that lens and share the experience but I don't really know what struck the light. But Dying Earth, because of its title and setting, I think has the best chance to wrong foot newcomers. At least until you get to Cugel, and who can resist him.
