How to overcome self-doubt and the feeling that everything you write is utter shit? I'm 60k words into the first draft of a novel but haven't been able to touch the thing for more than three months as the same things always happens: I open the document, I write a few sentences, I read said sentences, I delete them and go do something else. Did any of you experience similar troubles while working on your fiction? How did you push through it?

The problem is that you are reviewing the sentences too quickly. You need to leave them alone for a lot longer before you go back to them. You are not able to view them impartially in the moment. Write what you can; go back to it later.

A large number of artists feel this way about their work. Don't let it get you down.
