Idk if this belongs here or in /mu/ but i'm looking for heavy albums with literary lyrics (philosophy, history, mythology, religion, occult, etc.) where you can tell they actually read the text before making the album. All subgenres are cool.

Deathspell Omega. In every single sense of that word, they are the most complex band to ever grace this planet. Listen to the song FC: The Freedom Club by Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. It's about Ted Kaczynski. I actually don't care about Ted and this board's meme obsession with him. But I do care about the Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and I love that song. It just happens to be about Ted and his ideas. It singlehandedly makes me value Ted a little more, whereas /lit/ made me want to stay away from him for how much they meme him.

Clear in its meaning this time the only color was amber and the Mechanic
understood and now Tom will have his way and make this wrencher wrench without

Iron maiden has a song with the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Another group and one of ky the personal favourites is the Blue Oyster Cult, especially their album Imaginos. They're more progressive rock, but their Imaginos album is based around an unreleased epic lovecraftian poem by their lyricist and producer. Check it out and see what you think.

Check out "How Like A Winter", it was an Italian doom metal band that used Shakespeare's sonnets and was otherwise influenced by him.

Also, Drudkh has used some old Ukrainian poetry as lyrics, and some albums really have that strong historical vibe.
