Idk if this belongs here or in /mu/ but i'm looking for heavy albums with literary lyrics (philosophy, history, mythology, religion, occult, etc.) where you can tell they actually read the text before making the album. All subgenres are cool.

Deathspell Omega. In every single sense of that word, they are the most complex band to ever grace this planet. Main lyrical inspirations are Hegel and Bataille, but they mention a lot of their influences in their latest interview (after 15 years of silence!) rdomethodology.com/articles/2019/06/23/deathspell-omega-interview/ .

Pic related, it's their latest EP, Synarchy of Molten Bones, depicting Nimrod as the EP is very inspired by Hugo's The End of Satan.

Be'lakor

Excerpt:

King, slave, child
Your fates are united
An unending row to the grave
A single dance now, all eyes are shut
Blind to the earthly
Begging now to forget who I am
Emperor, your sword is useless
Shattered crowns so swiftly
Fragile as the scythe
Aching bones cling to swollen limbs
Despair floods all senses
The world is dying around me

Puts most modern poets to shame really.

Listen to the song FC: The Freedom Club by Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. It's about Ted Kaczynski. I actually don't care about Ted and this board's meme obsession with him. But I do care about the Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and I love that song. It just happens to be about Ted and his ideas. It singlehandedly makes me value Ted a little more, whereas /lit/ made me want to stay away from him for how much they meme him.

Jack hollered at me. I wasn't sure if he was upset but my suspicion was proven false immediately. When my gaze met his a letter-paper was pushed towards me
more quickly than I could imagine him capable. A mumble of this lee hur comes
i'at twooth theerty. I was confused. A million interpertations bounced around for which I have no explanation, as I am experienced. Finally I knew what he had meant. I have an appointment.

I examined the aparatus. It was square and long and it started with a bit of hesitation. For that I let it run a bit. It had been well-driven but looked good and stout and is considered in the shadow of its siblings less-featured.

A trail of smoke lifted by warmth-in-cold traced the scene in the undercarriage of the concrete, open to air structure. I wish I could see the stars but it was the wrong hour and certainly the wrong place. I went upstairs.

I knew it was him when I saw it. And of course I knew every little detail and
then learned more when I saw the war-plaques adorning his approach. Very polite, in manner and appearance. Yessir was the standard here and we both abided.
This may be a weakness of mine but we all have them and I don't know if it is a benefit to recognize them but I suppose I don't have a choice.

Vulgur odor from his machine became a talking-point. It was old, far beyond a value worth his note. Indication of excess for why does anyone need one of
these anyway? That was absolutely said in solitude as a recognition of the point results in my own personal loss. What do we do here, now, to rectify this?

Here, I have something: only a thin triple-layer multicolor offer for you,
soldier. My friend also, I like you. His name echoed off the who-knows-what
matierial we were enclosed by for a bit of time, this is my way, of course. But no we must do it My way! He yelped. I didn't think so and I still don't so I
will say Sir I have that respect and I hope you know it but I can not ordain you for I am not a priest nevermind God.

The Soldier and the scum such as me! Can you imagine this meeting? I swear on
my own grave this indeed happened and happens on the frequent. My grave is not filled yet and will not be filled tomorrow so what does that declaration even
hold? Say, I know. I will eventually bulge in a coffin in this earthly-ending as will you and no matter who cannot escape this fate. A new offer,

Clear in its meaning this time the only color was amber and the Mechanic
understood and now Tom will have his way and make this wrencher wrench without
him himself ever knowing. O, what Tom does someday I wish for myself. There is a luxury beyond my means in the I hate to call it subversion, it really isn't anyway. He is so well monied and I don't know why I worship value and metal, but O am I so jealous.

There was also a woman, easy to absorb and docile. Is that not how a woman
should behave? She only was because I was there and she could tell I give
little benefit to the fair I encounter on account of profit.

Tom did his thing and I made two other things happen in the same time. For the
sake of profit I am thankful bless God!

Some really good suggestions in this thread.

Check out "How Like A Winter", it was an Italian doom metal band that used Shakespeare's sonnets and was otherwise influenced by him.

Also, Drudkh has used some old Ukrainian poetry as lyrics, and some albums really have that strong historical vibe.
