Why did jesus kill 2000 pigs in the bible?

He did not. Christ did not send the demons to to the swine, nor were they actually swine. By this exposition, the Savior attempted to demonstrate the value of a Christian. The "swine", as He has declared on other occasion (Matthew 7:6), represents the unclean persons who rejected His message, it being truth itself. The passage demonstrates how valuable of prey Christ's children are to the devil. Satan values the damnation a single 1 Christian more than 2000 infidels. The closer the union with God, the more ferocious the struggle.

probably the same reason the Juden dont allow pork

one problem more devoted Christians will face is that anytime something unpleasant comes up in the Bible, and is explained away with some sort of interpretive trick (swine isnt actually pigs, swine meant infidels), it opens the doors to any and all interpretations.
and who is to say which interpretation is correct?

This was an instance of misinterpretation by superstitious people, according to Urantia.

151:6.5.Jesus, looking down upon the man crouching like an animal at his feet, reached down and, taking him by the hand, stood him up and said to him: "Amos, you are not possessed of a devil; you have already heard the good news that you are a son of God. I command you to come out of this spell." And when Amos heard Jesus speak these words, there occurred such a transformation in his intellect that he was immediately restored to his right mind and the normal control of his emotions. By this time a considerable crowd had assembled from the near-by village, and these people, augmented by the swine herders from the highland above them, were astonished to see the lunatic sitting with Jesus and his followers, in possession of his right mind and freely conversing with them.

151:6.6.As the swine herders rushed into the village to spread the news of the taming of the lunatic, the dogs charged upon a small and untended herd of about thirty swine and drove most of them over a precipice into the sea. And it was this incidental occurrence, in connection with the presence of Jesus and the supposed miraculous curing of the lunatic, that gave origin to the legend that Jesus had cured Amos by casting a legion of devils out of him, and that these devils had entered into the herd of swine, causing them forthwith to rush headlong to their destruction in the sea below. Before the day was over, this episode was published abroad by the swine tenders, and the whole village believed it. Amos most certainly believed this story; he saw the swine tumbling over the brow of the hill shortly after his troubled mind had quieted down, and he always believed that they carried with them the very evil spirits which had so long tormented and afflicted him. And this had a good deal to do with the permanency of his cure. It is equally true that all of Jesus' apostles (save Thomas) believed that the episode of the swine was directly connected with the cure of Amos.

Whenever a thread like this appears I always go straight to Scripture. Legion begged not to be sent out to some distant place (possibly interpreted as the cosmos or a deepness of hell), and instead they asked to be sent into a herd two thousand pigs, which were considered unclean by the Jews. The sea represented death and chaos to the ancient Jews, so that says a few things that are tangential to this conversation.

they don't represent anything, the demons literally speak to Jesus and ask him if he's come to torment them ahead of the promised time, Jesus just hated pigs and was punishing the local jews who were raising them against the law

>yeah but then they just instantly killed themselves once they got put in the pigs
It does not say "instantly", and the duration it took is immaterial. God does not count the days of a man but what he does in his days.
>why couldn't Jesus just free them
God does not abandon the sinner unless they first abandon him. Having lost the divine grace, they opened the doors of their heart to the devil and plunged themselves to their death by going after sin (falling into the sea), instead of the truth.

Have you met an Orthodox Jew? The Torah could start with the words "THOU SHALT NOT EVER, EVER EAT HONEY FROM BEES" and Talmudists would have 800-page tomes justifying using honey in everything they eat. This is actually a venerable argument for why Jews are such good "scholars" at a surface level but ultimately soulless, they have literally spent 2000+ years practicing casuistry.
