Any hobby or interest a girl has beyond something basic and very surface-level is disgusting. A girl should present herself to a suitor as a blank slate, a willing and open-minded student with some basic understanding for what "tasteful", "cultured", and especially "gaudy" and "crass" are, but nothing beyond that. Like all stereotypes, the one about women and books has some truth to it. I’ve yet to meet a woman who actually reads, but met PLENTY who have fat collections of YA and then some literature which they admit to only having bought with the intention of flexing (but never read).

The worst was the girl who was a Librarian and wrote the word “frusterating”. The person who has the job of “book expert” reads so little that they can’t even spell frustrating correctly.
