What books can help me grow up?
I don't read any books and I haven't for a long time.
I'm 21 in the US with no license. I've had a few jobs, all customer service/retail, and I foolishly quit all of them within months because I hated them.
Can you guys recommend me some books that'll maybe offer some insight into flipping burgers against your will without committing suicide.

save up for school or join the military

Define for yourself what you think growing up is
Go to college or get into the trades so you can make an actual living wage
Start exercising probably so your body can get used to putting out some effort
Read books or wikis relevant to your interests to get used to exerting mental effort
Pretty much get out of the habit of laziness because it creates massive suffering for yourself in the long term, for marginal diminished comfort in the short term

I don't think I'll do very good in college because I did horrible in all of my mandatory schooling.
Is there a way I can get better at forcing myself to learn things I'm not necessarily interested in?

How can I deal with the thought of running the wageslave treadmill? It horrifies me. I feel like the only practical thing I can obtain for myself is a suburban life working to live and living to work. The thought of this disgusts and horrifies me, how can I get over this?

First of all, read what you like. Don't force yourself to read 'till the end something you don't got the capacity to finish. After getting a reading habit, go for the classics. Personally, I would recommend this book: https://libgen.is/book/index.php?md5=8B94520CC09F61D15A965F71BFCB609D
If you have a kindle:
https://libgen.is/book/index.php?md5=0B56FC53E9D584C27866C637ED9A59C8

It's basically about a guy who just died and, since there will be no repercussions to he tells us, he writes about every little sin he committed shamelessly.

There's another one, The Decline and Fall of Policarpo Quaresma, that'd like you to read if you get interested. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it online in English. It's about a very funny patriot's tragedy.

Catcher in the Rye is about a teenage sperg going through a mental breakdown while coming to terms with letting go of the innocence of childhood and accepting that he’s grown up. As good a book as any for growing up

I've always admired people who recognize school is not what they want. We are taught to think uni is right for everyone, everyone graduates within 4 years, and there finds their place in the world afterwards.
