I mean more than the boring, logical existence I live in. Feels like life is just solving the next problem that comes along or optimizing something. Like I'm just a robot. And then I'll do that for most of my life and die one day, going back to nothingness. Yet there are all these insane tales of battles between angels and devils, all sorts of magic techniques that has some people basically "hack life".

Reality is often so boring. Just let me break out of the Matrix already.

Because we're atomized social animals living without identity or meaning in an increasingly materialist society. Some who used to be atheists (myself included) have realized that traditions like religion are social and therefore biological functions. I may not literally believe in the supernatural, but I believe in figurative devils and their philosphical implications. And I've seen the way that left-leaning "scientific" atheists form dogmatic mobs, constituting a functional religion and demonstrating the inborn tendency for it.

Not just our age amigo.... it’s a niche for the Enlightened ones ( the ones who’ve “read it all” or all that’s worth reading) who haven’t killed themselves yet. Try researching Hinduism, Christian mysticism, and 16th mystics for a cursory understanding of how all encompassing and complex the works of some of these mystics is. Hinduism, bro the men of the East understood it all thousand of years ago.

Think about it this way all biographies of western great thinkers will reveal a multitude of faults and vices in their character... unlike the great minds of the East that live and lived much more pious lives than any western Christian male.

I WISH I could be a soulfag. That I ignore all the inconsistencies and abandon all logic and lead a much happier life knowing it's all super meaningful and when I die that was just another level of learning in the game to some ultimate higher cause.

Surely just read any metaphysical philosophy that is part of the canon? Don’t get me wrong, I think hermetic and mystic texts are really interesting but I think they should serve more as creative inspiration/historical curiosity, potentially a way to engage with their spirituality if they want to. But I don’t think people should be using them to believe in them or to inform their studies of metaphysics. I also think there‘s a danger if people are using them too much as a spiritual tool - they have a danger of becoming very isolated in their spirituality, when they could be participating in community acts of worship and becoming spiritual in the presence of others.

We are always changing, like I said our body and mind are always transforming and mostly decaying. I don't know how specific you want to get here in defining a million "you's" at every moment. No different than trying to specify how my computer was exactly a second ago, if I somehow stopped time to analyze it. It's pointless. But you know what I mean, I'm talking about the difference between you walking from point A to point B and me somehow reconstructing you in it's entirety over here, then walking over to your home, shooting you in the head and saying you "teleported" to this new location. It's another biological machine, even if it's identical to you at the moment of reconstruction. I'm sure the next milisecond, it will not be, as it interacts with everything else in a different manner than you are.

I really don't get your whole "actually you totally believe in a soul let me tell you why".

Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha would be helpful to someone like you since it generally keeps away from abstract philosophy and brings non-dualism down to earth, by delineating the meditative path to realize it, explaining the exact methods to do so and the signposts along the way to recognize progress. Now that's a hard question. You are asking me to define what "I" am and how someone else who is a perfect copy of myself is not me. I'd like to think that for the briefest of moments, we are, but even that opens another can of worms. I can recognize who "I" am as opposed to everyone else but I can't fully explain to you why I have this sense of self. Can you? All you've said so far is "lol soulfag" as if I'm making the claim I have some special part of me that can never be replicated/is immortal or whatever.

To put it in simpler terms, if you build a second computer that's just like the first one down to the molecular level, can you really claim the are the exact same thing? Maybe initially, but then if these computers each go to a different home and have different purposes and environments, are they still the same?

There are a lot of questions here and I have a feeling you'll not answer any of em and instead just ask another question about 5 words of this wordsalad I typed up.

In other words, you have a memory of what that is. Which means you are capable of telling if that suddenly changes. Which means that you couldn't place these memories into something that is not you without it noticing, because its memories of "being you" won't match up with what it feels. But if the memories do match up, that means it was you all along, and there was never any "not you".

Some say this kind of occult revivals are simply natural in troubled or uncertain times, but this time it might be more complex. In a wider context seems part of a current tendency in society to make mainstream what was fringe before. It goes hand to hand for example with the normalization of feminism, LGTB stuff, etc. Conspiracy theories also come to mind, since they are also becoming sort of normalized. Counterculture becoming norm.

>Why is our age so obsessed with mysticism?
Provide some evidence that it is, compared to time periods in the past. I disagree that we're obsessed with mysticism compared to say, New Age hippies in the early 70s, or the Romantics of the 19th century. I don't even think mysticism is huge here on 4chan.

>also mutilate the boys penis's at birth, its a cleaner we promise.

They've done a good job with Hollywood in convincing the masses it's edgy and cool, and also totally NOT a religion, but Science™, atheism, and the counter culture in general is absolutely a modern day belief system for people, and we are at the point in which it is more acceptable publicly to be some other-kin freak, than it is to go have a nuclear family.
