There is a strangely potent bitterness to anti-accel-fag-posting that makes me wonder, why would anyone react to accelerationism in such a vindictive way? It's an ideology of resignation and despair, it eschews political offense or confrontation. It's like getting mad at someone for not arguing with you. Very strange.

Also imo using big words allows the brain to manipulate big ideas. One of the most fascinating books I've ever read is pic related: "The Secret Commonwealth," by Robert Kirk. It was written at the very end of the 17th Century, and is an extremely serious treatment of the fairy lore of Scotland. It basically takes all the stories and legends about fairies, the Fae, and second sight deadly seriously, and treats them as something that either is currently real at the time of the writing of the book, or that is not real any more, but was real within the living memory of the various individuals Kirk speaks to when he compiles the work.

Are there any other works quite like this? Works that are essentially a scientific investigation into overtly paranormal and supernatural matters that actually yield fascinating results? The Secret Commonwealth is essentially a work of nonfiction, since Kirk seemed to take seriously everything he was writing about.

I guess this is a bit of a blend of /lit/ and /x/. But I'd be fascinated to find out if there are any other works like this, that treat of paranormal topics in such a serious way.
