Dear /lit/
What is a phrase that is similar to “careless abandon”, but is not as strong?

Like when one is reading a really good book, and one know’s that they have something to do in the morning, but they metaphorically throw prudence to the proverbial wind and stay up all night reading anyway.

Thanks in advance

Disregarding what I had to do, I read late into the night?

Thanks, but I was hoping for a bit more poetry in the words.

In return you get a picture of Bill Murray.

Procrastinating is a good enough word, I think. Or just make something up.

"Wanton disregard", perhaps?

It's not really the same thing as procrastination.

And I tried to make something up, but I just can't seem to find the right words - that is why I am here.

Heedlessly,
Unmindfully,
Frivolously,
Langorously (not the same nuance, but I like it - the other words seem to be suggesting the pass-time is unworthy),
Dilatorily,
Lingeringly (again, not same meaning, but - hey -).

Actually, general disregard may be better if you're looking to tone it down from "careless abandon".

You want a colon or a dash, not a semicolon.

Also the second part of that is drivel. Full rewrite plz.

thanks for the grammar, but I'm not asking for literary criticism at the moment. This is only one sentence in a first draft - I'm just looking for a phrase that would fit for the moment.
