Am I the only one who counts the chapters that I've had read instead of the pages? Counting how many pages you've read a day seems dumb

What are you talking about? Count the words it's the only true metric.

Try that with Proust. His chapters are like 200 pages long.

Depends on book. Reading an hour of philosophy to me could mean 10 pages while reading fiction could be 20-30 pages

im gunna write a book that's one big chapter... just for you so you'll read "nothing" for days and days and then you'll read "one" and then you'll be so relieved that you'll get up from your couch and stagger out of your house and run out into the street and right before a speeding truck (40 over the limit) hits you you'll say to yourself; "mumma mia!"

ah I'm glad I'm not the only person that reads at that pace. The important thing is the time you spend reading and how engaged you are with the book. uwu

Chapters are even worse. Imagine reading white noise or cat's cradle while sitting on your high horse, boasting about reading 20 chapters in a day. Just read. It's not a race.

I count pages when I read, but count chapters when I write. My fellow writefag friend counts words for writing, and pages for reading.

What? I only count the chapters that I haven't read.

I clocked myself at 34 pages in an hour and it bummed me out. Isn't the average 40-50 pages?

definitely not, and if it actually is then I assume most people retain next to nothing about the text
