Where to start with Napoleon? (More interested in biography than war history.)

Just do what I did and read an old book written by an admiring Englishman on him (or two), instead of the modern 900-page biographies that try to pander to everybody and alienate nobody in a post-"great man" era by spending entire chapters talking about his fucking lame relationship with his wife.

Then when you have the basics down, read the Memorial of St. Helena. And Emerson's chapter on him in Representative Men.
