I'm thinking about buying one of those. Is it comfortable? I prefer a typewriter over a PC because then I won't be distracted with all the shit I have in my computer. What do you think?

It would be pretty cool to experience typewriting in 2019
>It's a waste your money op, you're a retard
don't listen to them
If you end up not using it you can always sell it for a couple of shekels less than the price you brought it, no biggie. Do it.

You will find that dealing with ribbons and reams is an absolute fuck you experience in 2019.

What you really want is an Alphasmart, these are lowkey the best austere word processor. Just takes some batteries and an SD card*, I used to use these in the military because it's a pretty forgettable device compared to a laptop or typewriter, as long as it has batteries (which last forever) and as memory card it can sit around under the dashboard and be picked up any time**

*You need an old one though, I'm a bit turnt atm and can't think straight but I discovered the hard way that these things don't work with 128mb+ SD cards for some reason so you need some old ass cards from amazon
**also apparently these devices are no longer supported as of 2013 (which is right around when I stopped using them regularly) so there's that, but you're still probably better off with this than a typewriter

What will probably happen is you get the typewriter, realize it's not helping you at all and you're better off with the PC, and now you have some analog junk sitting around that you paid too much for. PC will only distract you if you let it, typewriter (despite being admittedly cozy experience) won't change that ;)

I have one that I've inherited from my grandpa, and it is indeed a comfy experience. Seeing the words being rightly printed on the page makes the novel feel palpable, but I don't think it will help you. Your problem seems to be focus, and a antique machine won't solve this. Stop procrastinating on the internet and start writing on pen and paper, away from your phone and the internet.

Buy a laptop, and unplug the wifi modem.
Fuck.

As cool as manual typewriters are, electric typewriters are an absolute joy to write on, and much more helpful as a writing tool. The touch of the keys is lighter than any computer keyboard. Some have backspace and delete functions. My Smith-Corona from the early ‘90s even has a spellcheck.

Let’s be honest. You just want to seem more interesting by attempting to fill your void of a personality with things you believe will give you the appearance of being refined or interesting. In reality, no amount of material items will compensate for your trite and meaningless existence. Kill yourself immediately you massive faggot.

Not giving into instantaneous gratification and doing what needs to be done to achieve ones goals is reddit? Well fuck, this place is officially dead if that is the case, the coomers have won.

i bought a typewriter for much the same reason and to be frank it helped quite a bit. i can now sit and write for hours on end. besides, you can't get mad and delete everything. if you get stuck you can't delete your last paragraph in frustration: you just sit there and think and try to push on. the fact that the pages are printed means that you have to revise with a red pen immediately, and having to retype new drafts is a great way of correcting little mistakes in flow.

also, the tactile feeling of slamming a key onto a page is very rewarding. i understand it's a vanity thing, but it did make writing more engaging for the first time in years. i still write mostly on notebooks and notepads and such, but when i want to take a long-planned chapter for a spin, the typewriter is the ultimate zen tool.

Typewriters are very attractive but they're the most useless shit on the planet. Use a computer with a minimalist word processor like ghostwriter and then print everything out in century gothic so your 12 pages of unfinished novel will look fancy.
