FUCK FUCK FUCK I'M FUCKING STUPID.

What's wrong with me, /lit/? I'm almost twenty-one years old, I've never been out of my own country and I don't even have my fucking Master's Degree yet.
At this rate I'll be stuck in my hometown trying to earn my bachelor's degree for another whole year. :(

most people don't have their bachelor's degree until they're 22 or older. why are you so worried?

>> No.1405858,1 [INTERNAL]

Don't worry bro, if you're humanities it's not going to make any difference.

No, I just should have been more of a success so I could have graduated from high school earlier and earned my bachelor's by at least two years before now.
Sometimes I think instead I should have just skipped high school altogether and earned a GED when I was 15 so I could transfer to a university when I was 16 or 17.

>Because I don't want to be on the same level as most people.

Problem identified. You have contempt for other people, and therefore the notion that you are on the same level as other people is offensive to you. You're an elitist who is accomplishment-trolling to glorify your ego instead of to learn about and participate in your society as a productive and complete human being. Do you really think you would be any more mature, or even significantly more learned, if you had a Master's, with this attitude of "get the degree as quickly as possible"? Maybe a little, sure. But you would mostly use the Master's degree and this marginal increase in learning as an opportunity to feed your ego. That isn't healthy, and that's why you're stuck making bullshit threads on anonymous imageboards, not because you don't have a Master's.

not true. underacheiving means your school or parents suck. i mean yeah people will say 'take responsibility', 'stop being lazy' & things like that but i don't see how it's any different from social mobility & people/politicians try to make that 'fairer', it's like an emotional version of it. so i think it's ok to blame other people for your underachieving.

who do you blame OP?

as long as this desire to have a faster pace comes from within, and not in thinking about how other people live their lives, that is okay. if you want to get done more quickly, then work out the steps you need to take to get there. if it can't be done, accept the time you have and enjoy it. what is the rush to get out into the job market anyway? you will work for just one additional year in your life? that doesn't amount to much in the grand scheme of your life.

>> No.1405986

OP, when I was about to turn 21 I had a sad running list in my head of the ages at which moderately attractive 826 Valencia-adjacent novelists published their own book, and I thought to myself that it would be kind of pathetic if, at the absolute latest, I hadn't topped Everything Is Illuminated by the time I was 25. I'm about to be put out to pasture by those standards, but in those few years I've gained enough wisdom to realize what a dipshit I am and to understand that my junior year of college was probably better-spent drinking heavily on study abroad at the University of Glasgow than writing White Teeth at Cambridge, that the year after I graduated was better-spent on actual illicit homosexual dalliances than doing a first draft of The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, etc.

It ain't all that serious, son.

>not true. underacheiving means your school or parents suck.

Nope. There is some validity to this, and parents and education do matter, but reducing underachieving to external factors is exactly the kind of contemptible shit contemptible people use to justify being contemptible. Taking full responsibility for your actions is a normative statement to put you on the right path, and taken with a proper amount of salt is totally workable for 99% of adults.

This is why you're the worst person on /lit/. You think this bullshit is clever, and you think you yourself are clever, as if existing gives you magical privilege to be loved. Maybe if you yourself actually took responsibility for your actions, instead of being an asshole and then apologizing for your knowingly anti-social behavior, you would actually get some of the positive attention you apparently actually desire. You can say it's "trolls trolling trolls, etc." but normal people don't do what you're doing. It is sincerity and it is a sickness, and i hope you get some treatment sometime.

no, i only think i should be loved because most people are. but sometimes i think i dont deserve to be too. why you guys always think im such a narcissus, i'm like the opposite of that most of the time, especially irl.

>Maybe if you yourself actually took responsibility for your actions, instead of being an asshole and then apologizing for your knowingly anti-social behavior, you would actually get some of the positive attention you apparently actually desire
oh i c, you mean lit specifically. i dont feel responsible here. i think its fairer to bitch relentlessly to you guys since you're losers as well, not people irl. & i also think you'll forgive me because of the numbers. its not like irl where i bore one person to death then they ignore me.
