Libraries? So that retarded roasties can fill them up couple days before the exam that they will inevitably barely pass and go on to have a great career because they are disgusting roasties who will suck cocks for cash? These cunts' unceasing chattering and giggles make me want to shoot up the place. The only time I enjoy libraries is at the beginning of the semester, because they're empty, because the roasties are all getting fucked and clubbing and sucking cock in some decrepit toilet room. But then the sinking dry-cum breath increases inversely proportional to the number of days from exam. Cunts all of them.

Libraries are struggling with e-books rights. Macmillan just made it a rule that they can only purchase access to one copy for the first two months from release, so for a lot of recent titles you're looking at wait times similar to those for the physical book.

Tbh I think publishing needs a little guidance via sales. If everyone went out and bought Ducks, Newburyport, we might see some weird shit going forward. Instead, it's endless Ellen Hilderbrand/Ian McEwan/James Patterson titles which, by the way, are the only books your library is buying aside from a few token books talked about by the commentariat. The U.S. public library's not really a place where you're going to discover Henry Green or Clarice Lispector; with the hollowing out of social services they're moving toward a community center model to fill the gap, so books aren't really the main sell. A lot of them proudly declare they're "more than just books," though the "more" is really that they might have a little makerspace or cookware you can check out, and host seminars for Medicare for boomers.

Yes, buying books makes me feel good. Some day I’ll get around to reading all of them.

You can get depressed, or you can be hopeful because your checking it out helps keep classics in circulation. I check out as many books as I can get away with every month in order to make sure the library keeps the books that matter.
Consider emailing the librarian responsible about titles you'd like to see at your local library. Most people never make requests so odds are you can get what you want on site instead of usi g the state wide catalogue.

I went to my local library between classes to try to find a copy if I, Claudius by Robert Graves, and not only did they not have it at that location, they didn't have it at any of their locations in the entire metro area. The book that's considered to be the first major work of modern historical fiction that kickstarted the contemporary genre. Fuck libraries if they don't even have something so barebones and basic, and fuck the commie in the OP who would say throwing money at bureaucratic idiots would solve the problem. Just pirate ebooks, intellectual property doesn't exist anyway because all possible arrangements of ideas and symbols are preexistent.

I really hate this post

anyone with eyes can see that libraries established in poor communities serve NO function other than a repository for the homeless.
one should be demanding education. this whole 'free access' thing is crap and only serves to allow out of touch morons like OPs pic to virtue signal in the face of logic
