Guenon is not a philosopher, he's an historian of religion. His arguments are not philosophical arguments in the slightest but interpretations of religious myths, doctrines and sourced, which makes them at best good literary criticism and at worst simple argument from authority. His historical value is weak, compared to eliade, for instance, and his book are full of ad hoc arguments and straight made up reading of the sources. This long of a thread but no one here answered the OP's question. OP, he converted to Islam because he can actually become Muslim. If you were to convert to Hinduism it would not make sense since he wasn't born into a caste, he would automatically become an untouchable.

That's not true actually, there are no prohibitions in the Vedas or smritis that say foreigners can't become Hindus. There is just no standardized pan-Hindu conversion procedure like how with Muslims all recite the Shahada. Different Hindu sects have their conversion and initiation procedures, many of which have no restrictions on who can join. John Levy was an English traditionalist who traveled to India, become a Hindu and studied under different masters, and who eventually purchased Guenon's house in Cairo for him as a gift. When people repeat the meme "you can't become a Hindu if you're not born into it!!!" they're usually Abrahamists trying to get you to join their religion. Not to mention of course as a decent looking white guy you'll have loads of Indian women and their families trying to get you to marry them, at which point you can be legally adopted by them and become whatever caste they are if you so desire.
