is it against the culture of the board to use goodreads?
i've never read as much.

- i grow the book number and it gives me satisfaction
- i use the reviews as a mental note of what the book is about, so i've stop forgetting about the ones i've read
- i get recommandations

so anyway i would like to start a goodread thread, if the board uses it

There are good reads threads pretty frequently here. I just hit back into reading recently so I'm too shy to post mine :3

the big numbers are as good a motivator as loots in video games
you also get to better remember the books since you've got a log of them

Quality of reading is more important than quantity of reading. If you want to track what you've read/yet to read use a spreadsheet.

>> No.13995833

>>13995799
Or literally just use good reads? Why do you care if someone uses good reads vs. a spreadsheet for the same purpose?

>> No.13995864

>>13995833
Ideally, we should only document what we've read for reference purposes. Goodreads gamifies this process, affirming quantity of books read as good (which is most definitely not the case).

in practice, you should rather weigh the pros and cons of :
- reading
- not reading

I don't see many downsides of goodreads, except that it's owned by Amazon and that it emphasizes on quantity rather than value

Yes, but for those where reading/not reading is no longer of concern, but quantity/quality of reading is, use of a spreadsheet should be seriously considered.

Imagine how presence of an asteroid ring around Earth would affect the mythologies and religions of the world.
Also, checked.

There are dozens of different (and contradicting) /x/-pills. Which one in particular are you referring to? Please educate me :)
