Frankly, it had some decent writing.
I guess.

Yeah I used to think it was that good until a fellow anon made me rethink the whole doublethink stuff he pulled. Pretty complex thematically actually, though lacking in some other areas. A good book

Didactic might not be the right word, but André Gide's "The Immoralist" is a highly sensual novella that is basically just a résumé of Nietzschean philosophy.

1984 is one of my most hated books. The primary reason for this is the fact that in America almost everybody with a high school education uses the book as a rhetorical battering ram against whoever they disagree with. Republicans bitch about college campuses being 1984 when e-celebs aren't allowed to speak. Democrats bitch that it's 1984 it someone criticizes a journalist.

The book itself is fine. However, I utterly resent the fact that it exists.

1984 is 8th grade reading level, everything is simple and on the nose, predictable even, there's just a lot of concepts to keep track of. Also, only faggots think it describes anything other than rabid socialism

Maybe when you’re constantly being monitored by people, with human desires and the ability to be corrupted. People are comparing 1984 nowadays to AI facial recognition and crime prevention softwares, and it’s the kind of ignorance and false equivalence that’s going to keep us in the damn boomer age.

based.
Slaughterhouse V, 1984, Brave New World, they all attract the generic, non-readers, but it takes absolutely no effort to ignore them, or, if you're a decent at all person, to humor them and talk about the books.

Sometimes I feel like everybody that says "ITS JUST LIKE WHAT HAPPENED IN 1984" never actually read 1984.

>> No.13995729

The best scene in 1984 is when Winston goes to the bar and has the conversation with the prole about what life was like under the old capitalist system. Peter Hitchens did a reading of it as part of a larger reading event:

That only accounts for the privacy issue. People are also rightly concerned that an AI system capable of tracking your exact location at all times could be misused by a future radical government to oppress and persecute political dissidents.
