Getting into poetry via the wiki, but I'm looking for recommendations of verse translations for the Greek and Roman works

Anthony Verity for a readable Iliad/Odyssey. Robert Fitzgerald for a more poetic rendering. Aenid should be read in Latin but Fitzgerald makes it enjoyable too. Metamorphoses should also be read in Latin but Arthur Golding made a oretty compelling translation. Those are the biggies.

>Tfw I read the entirety of the Greeks before even knowing the basics of poetry (though advanced in many philosophical aesthetic theory). I am directly about to start reading the Romans and Shakespeare/Beowulf, should I read these basics of poetry first (as well as anthology)?

I don't want to reread all of the Greek poets and playwrights, do I? Or can I wait like 5 years and just do it when I decide I should do a rereading for memory and clarification?

I appreciate the reccs, Anon. Thanks. I'd like to learn Latin but my work studies prevent that at this time.

At what age is the youngest one can read Goethe? Given a good understanding and reading of Western philosophy/literature(and of course well read in various other fields) up until the Storm unst Drang movement.

To be clear, I'm not saying the best age but the youngest age.
