And I don't want coping strategies. I want to be convinced that I should be doing something other than lusting after teenage feet all day.

I disagree with Aristotle's base claim that human life as a set function one ought to fulfill. Arete is also a highly subjective idea and doesn't have much practical use

>seems like right wing propaganda
Anything new defending chastity will look like right wing propaganda, since the center-left promotes promiscuity as healthy and the center-right only cares about economic growth.

Schopenhauer. He was one of the first philosophers to take sexual desire seriously and elucidate its implications. Sexual desire is the most potent manifestation of the Will. As such, it is dangerous and commanding. It is a fire eating us up inside. It can control us like puppets, just as the Will enslaves us in general.

At the same time as Nietzsche said, "the degree and kind of a man's sexuality reach up into the ultimate pinnacle of his spirit." How sexuality expresses itself through us determines what kind of person we are. Whether it controls us, or whether we use that primal drive to motivate us to accomplish other things along the way.

I really liked this. Thanks!

Then I think you're probably not moral or empathetic enough to be convinced that there is something that transcends pursuing your base desires, to be honest.

Reason alone can not motivate, it's a neutral tool. You need to be inspired by feeling.

Maybe you should not read philosophy but works of fictions to inspire a desire in you to aspire to something beyond the pleasures of the flesh.

freud is worth reading. similar to this nietz >>13910555 line, a big part of what he talks about is how sexuality runs through everything we do, and how sexuality can manifest itself in all sorts of ways. deleuze has some good claims about the nature of desire (in general) as well

I'd say also in general, you should seek to turn your sexual desire towards something you love, rather than merely pursuing whatever your sexual desire suggests what you want

My big passion is philosophy. But there seems to be a rift between it and my sexual impulses.

Or is art the only recipient available for my passions?
