My week went alright, glad that the weekend's here. Have a good one.

>just moved
>now have a gas station on the way to work, so i stop there sometimes
>been stopping there two or three times a week for like the past 3 weeks
>sometimes there's this qt girl who work there
>yesterday i had slept through my alarm clock and i felt like shit when i woke up so i stopped there to get some orange juice
>she's there and asks me "how's it going?" or whatever
>tell her i overslept
>she says "yeah, i noticed you were a little late today"
>tell her i also feel like i'm getting sick which is why i'm getting a jug of orange juice
>she says "yeah that's what my mom says, just chug a bunch of orange juice if you feel sick" or something like that
>leaking precum inside my pants by the time i get to work
>didn't even get a boner or anything, haven't fapped in like a month
so she definitely recognizes me, and we know that she made a note of me not showing up at my usual time, which means taht she has a certain expectation of my presence, perhaps an eager one. and she's now associated me with her mother, which is a good thing??? how do i proceed?

currently reading the anabasis of cyrus

I’m about 200 pages into Mason & Dixon, I’ve read two Pynchon books before this one and M&D’s tone shocked me. He takes a much more sincere turn with this book, there’s only been one slightly vulgar reference to sex so far, everything else has been very beautiful, even spiritual at times. You can really tell that he wanted to write a deep novel with this one, but it still maintains the Pynchon sense of humor throughout without spoiling any of the more serene bits. His handling of relationships, love, mysticism, sympathy, and much others are really mature and intelligent in M&D. It’s by far my favorite book by Pynchon

Currently reading The Master Mariner Book 1 by Nicholas Monserrat and just started The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis by José Saramago since I wanted to read something other than naval historical fiction for a bit.

Everything is okay, moved up to a new city to begin my postgrad studies so the week has been quite interesting, trying to adjust to a new place and new people and things seem to be going well. Thanks for asking OP.

Finishing Lolita. It was hot at first but now it's not hot at all.

>> No.13896199

>>13896177
Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins.
My sin, my soul.
Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth.
Lo.
Lee.
Ta.
She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock.
She was Lola in slacks.
She was Dolly at school.
She was Dolores on the dotted line.
But in my arms she was always Lolita.
Did she have a precursor?
She did, indeed she did.
In point of fact, there might have been no Lolita at all had I not loved, one summer, an initial girl-child.
In a princedom by the sea.
Oh when?
About as many years before Lolita was born as my age was that summer.
You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, exhibit number one is what the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied.
Look at this tangle of thorns.

Okay fine, you nut. You're lucky I love BotNS or else you wouldn't be getting shit.
Yes, Severian is the conciliator. Urth of the New Sun makes this explicit via time-travel stuff that I still don't fully understand. As far as I remember Dorcas was just a normal girl who died from disease or something, it's not like she has any special qualities beyond being brought back to life by the Claw. And I agree that the Salamander was the coolest monster, although the Autarch's mutant troops were pretty cool too.
I just got a new edition of the books and I'm really looking forward to re-reading them.
