Actually, in sweden crime has increased due to mass immigration. According to a 2005 study, immigrants are 500% more likely to commit sexual assults. And in 2019 we have plenty of mass shootings committed by immigrants. Also multiple "communes", for example Filipstad took in a large amount of immigrants whom couldn't read which resulted in a bad economic situation. We also have a record of bombings in 2019 due to migrant heroine gang.

I'm "pro" climate change (whatever the fuck that means) but damn that's retarded, they couldn't even prep her with some concessions to epistemic pluralism or pragmatism so she doesn't look like a gung-ho scientism technocrat? This is just going to give fuel to people who have enough intellectual tools to criticize her scientism, of which there are plenty, and the number is only growing.

Stupid. She's been groomed to be the mascot for this ideology and they can't even do it intelligently and strategically so as not to alienate more people. It doesn't take a lot to have her say "look, we all know science can be flawed or misguided, that it can have hidden agendas and be bought, but the consensus on this is SO overwhelming that we need to at least step on the brakes a bit, just to be safe." That would win a lot of people over who are undecided, and who have been listening to the accusations that this is all propagandizing.

>Maslow's Hierarchy of needs

>> No.13872542

>>13872498
It's too simplistic when getting into more complicated matters of the human ego, sure, but it's useful for general descriptions. Do you deny that people are generally miserable nowadays because their spiritual, emotional, mental, and relationship needs are unfulfilled?

I just have to quickly step in and mention that i happened t find out that maslow is a really profound thinker. The hierarchy of needs taken out of context is bland, but in maslows thinking and system it is really far away from that. Maslow is a thinker on par with Freud himself. Which is no small compliment

>given one weeks notice

at least some of my coworkers are threatening to walk over this because none of them will be able to do their jobs without me.

Anyways, to answer your question, we have one of, if not the, largest skill gap between generations. I can't tell you how many six-figure salary people I've had to teach excel. All the people in upper management want to run things like the 90's, and few understand investing in time rather than instant gratification money.

Everything's changing too quickly

I'll move on, but am I wrong? Not one of my grandfathers' or their fathers' careers are viable today.

It used to be if you wanted to be a chef, you joined a restaurant and cooked your way up. Now you have to have certifications, and everyone's using online applications and keywords to select people.

you're not wrong at all. it's likely that this sort of acceleration of technology will continue assuming progress is unabated and we might find that in our older age that gen z2 is teaching us how to use whatever the equivalent of excel is in the future.

I'm ok with that, but I get frustrated at the pushback I receive on teaching. It's like public school all over again, except I have to sit there and know these people are paid more than me and have better career options

>no, you don't HAVE to learn this
>you also could just print out your emails every morning
>yes, this is intimidating, but if you spend an hour learning this now, you'll be saving yourself four hours every week from now until you retire
I'm just dumbfounded at people's unwillingness to learn. Over half of my coworkers haven't read a book in over a year.

some of it is probably neuroplasticity related, and some of it is ideological. the older generation really fears asking for help or being exposed as weak on something. i see it with my parents all the time. they will absolutely refuse to accept help or critique because they would rather do it themselves than have to admit that they might need help learning once in a while.
it's a very sad thing.

It's the difference between a cookie now and three cookies later. Management tends to favor cookie now because it's easier to justify and less risky. That and any money caused by my endeavors is two or three steps removed from me, so no one wants to dig and find the root cause of success.
This sounds like sour grapes, but I'm in a very hidden position at work.
Moral of the story is embrace stoicism/cynicism and try to be better than your base instincts. Getting upset wouldn't have changed anything, but would have made me look bad.

I'm not saying I WANT to be a traveling salesman or what have you, but people are using yesterday's solutions to today's problems. It's easier to use something ready-made, even if it doesn't work, than to make something new. That way, you can act like the other person is unreasonable and ungrateful when they point out that it's not a viable option.
I once had to explain why it would be better to take an hour or two NOW to create an automatic emailer than to take ten minutes to send all the report emails myself. Which I would have had to do every week in perpetuity.

I effectively work < 10 hours a week, I'm present on the workplace 20 hours a week (40 on my contract, I only work mornings unless there is an important meeting planed after noon) and my managers don't even mention it.

I know a guy who got an entry level IT job with a big chain hotel, and quickly found out he could completely automate his own job with some programming. So he sat on his ass 8 hours per day pretending to work while the program was running, being busy with some sidehustle. Later he sold the technology to other hotels and got rich of it.
