I have been trying for ten years to read this book. Itg is fun but it is a difficult read. My Jesuit English teaching in high school said that some asked Joyce why his book was so hard to read. Joyce's replay was that if it too me ten years to write it, it should take you some time to read it.

Not sure if true, but sums up the work.

I haven't read Ulysses yet, but Dubliners is brilliant. A few of the stories are pretty boring but the majority are amazing when you notice the allusions and subtleties.
