>> No.1384816

People shouldn't be gifting with the intention of being gifted back. That's not the point. If the idea were for everyone to receive equal reciprocation, we could all just buy books for ourselves. The idea is for those who are generous and have a bit more than others to give to those who are in need and don't have much money to spare at the moment. Then in the future, those who have been gifted to in the past, when they have some spare money will give to those who are in need, and those who gave before may be in need then.

The karma of a wishlist thread is long term, and those who are particularly generous and well off will likely never receive full recompense. I have given far more than I have received, and I will probably continue to do so without expecting anything in return.

IDK about best as /I've/ only used a few other ones, but definitely easy and not ridiculous. See, all of the used bookstores near me sell paperbacks at $4-$15 anyway so there's really no price difference for me. I buy used almost exclusively for myself, unless there's simply not a copy in good enough quality. If you keep your eyes open, make sure you click on ALL versions of that book (underneath the product title, on some of them it'll say [Paperback], [Mass Market Paperback], [Paperback June 15 2005] or whatever) then you can usually find a low price for the book. Depends on where you are. There are nice sites that offer free 'worldwide' shipping like bookdepository (they won't work with all countries, though) and there are places like betterworldbooks that offer cheap worlwide delivery (they've changed it to free recently, but it looks like slightly lower shipping costs are now included in their prices) and ship everywhere.
