No.

Get off the fucking internet, get a library card and pick out some books that interest you from the non fiction section. Then come back in 10 years.

>> No.13800471

Jesus christ I swear we've had at least 6 of these "I've never read a book in my life, tell me what to read" threads in the past 24 hours. What's the deal? Did a Zoomer pop-culture icon mention that they liked books?

How will I be able to pick out the good books from the bad. The last thing I wanna do is read a bad book

I'm just one more person seeking truth and knowledge. What's the problem with that? Do you prefer I go back to playing Fortnite?

Stay and don't listen to >>13800464 . Most of us have been here for a couple of years and the median age seems to be from 23-27 so most of us started browsing at 20 which means you have a massive headstart. Most libraries have sub-par reading material since they can't afford half of what's discussed here. Reading and analysing a book takes precious time so choosing the right book is imperative If you want to be knowledgeable about the world around you at an appropriate age

Well there are other threads up right now with this same topic. Check the catalogue before posting.
>Look up the Western Canon

>Choose whatever you find interesting. Don't listen to the pseuds who say that you have to read boring shit.
>Make a habit of reading a minimum of 1 page daily. Setting the bar low allows the habit to be picked up easily. If you force yourself to read 10 pages daily you'll probably get burnt out and quit.

This will teach you that, being told what's good doesn't help you.

>1 page daily
is this a joke? How is anyone supposed to retain the information in a book if they read one page per day? An average novel would take over a year to read at this rate.

There are a few easily accessible books on here. Hesse and Kafka.

1 page minimum with no maximum limit. Setting up the habit slowly is more important than forcing oneself and burning out.

Honestly you can pretty much just start anywhere. Think of a topic that interests you, google books in that feild and pick one. It'll make references to other books and other topics look into what was being referenced and check it out if it looks interesting.

I started reading literature waaay earlier than that (middle school) so I'm warning you OP: you do have an advantage in terms of starting early but don't waste it like me by reading passively. Reading Crime and Punishment is pretty pointless if all you remember after a few years is the name of the protagonist and a few plot points, so make sure you recall after you've read, make notes or I don't know, search on the internet for methods to remember what you learn and stick with what works for you (remember that highlighting is just a waste of time and that has been proven)
