i have a coworker like this, she actually looks a lot like the girl in your pic. all she does is either re-read harry potter or read new young adult novels. i say "read" but if you ask her about it, you'll find she doesn't actually do much reading, it's all audiobooks, but if you in any way imply this is not the same as reading she'll get very upset with you

i can't speak to every girl who is like this, but for my coworker at least she's pretty sensitive to "mature content" so i think she largely reads YA shit because it's usually free from stuff like violence, rape, strong language, heavy drug use, etc., and if those things are present it's usually portrayed as objectively bad in preachy way rather than in a nuanced or complicated way. she's also a pretty big SJW and there is a ton of modern YA that plays to that sphere, while a lot of adult literature from pre 2000 has at least a few "problematic" parts that would piss her off because she's not the type to just accept that kind of stuff as sign of the times
