Day 7 of nofap. I've done this several times before. It forces you to be more productive, but I don't think it makes a huge difference mentally. Saving time by not jacking off is useful, but since I haven't found anything to fill my time with on the weekends, my mind just tries to grasp substitute distractions: cigarettes, binge eating, consuming junk information, etc. The problem is (as per Jordan Peterson) that youre not really trying to quit jacking off, but trying to have a better life. Largely I think it's indeed a cope, but it is neccessary to cope somehow

I think the people that do this are misguided. They concentrate all their energy into abstaining from masturbation for just a short while and then what do they do? They fall right back into their bad habits. You should be cultivating the virtue of chastity, having the right view towards sex in general.
