This thread is for the discussion of texts related to Hermetism, Neoplatonism (in its mystic manifestations), Gnosticism, Kabbalah, Cabala, Angel Magic, Alchemy, Paracelsianism, Boehmeian Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Freemasonry, Illuminism, Swedenborgianism, Mesmerism, as well as the more recent branches of the esoteric tree (Golden Dawn, Traditionalism, Blavatskian Theosophy, e.t.c.).

Recommend books, ask for recommendations, post nice excerpts, ask burning questions, e.t.c.

What are good books concerning the Hermetic philosophy? I already have Copenhavens Hermetica. Just don't recommend the Kybalion, that's not Hermetic.

this guy knows.

I recommend Manly P hall's lectures on Hermeticism; I found them very engrossing and capable of explaining the diverse currents religious around Hermeticism at the time; I find it very important for an organic understanding of how Hermeticism, neoplatonism and gnosticism influenced each other. I also find his focus on ancient Hermetic philosophy as very thorough, without new age bullshit.

I need to look more into both of those, I've only read essays and excerpts he's done on other topics.

There's a guy, Dennis Klocek who is very into both of those things along with biodynamic agriculture, I'm learning more through his talks/courses that I've found and pirated. So far I like everything I hear, enough that if I have kids one day there's a good chance I'd send them to a Waldorf school.

A lot of the ideas and techniques that I've found via Steiner and Klocek are really helpful, I wish I knew about this when I was 14 - 20, angsty and immature af and unable to get any kind of grip on myself.
