Honestly, I think the best advice I can give you is don't be afraid to look a little dumb. I always feel kind of weird putting pen to paper, especially when I'm writing thoughts or poems, like I'm self-conscious or something, but you've just got to go with it and let your thoughts flow.

dunno about my thoughts and insights. they are usually pretty lacklustre. i'm pretty sure they're what cause me to be constantly bashing my head against walls. generally want to convey something that seems like it didn't come from me at all.
