I-i also have Of mice and men in English and Glen Cook's Black company in English. Which I learned here, on 4chan. But other than that, I just have frog's translations and I ordered some bilingual Latin/French classics like Cicero, Juvenal or... Greek/French Aristophanes. (Just for the fun because I don't know a single word of Greek and I stopped Latin in highschool)

If there are English classics, I'm curious. Like Hemingway and such. Any tips?

Maybe a little specific, but Whole Again. It helped me identify and begin to address many of my own disordered tendencies after dating someone with a personality disorder for three years. Like a lot of self-help literature, it doesn't pose particular solutions, but it's insightful nonetheless.

I don't read self-help or any middle-management scum shit about being more successful. Perhaps it's a product of insecurity but the thought of people flourishing in a professional atmosphere makes me feel sick and spiteful. Figuring out why I feel this way is quite interesting to me, maybe I need a self-help book?

I'm assuming you mean't put yourself before others for Cyrano. Otherwise it would be counter intuitive.

Self help books are a scam. Most are drivel, more focused on providing the illusion of changing your life for the better without any substance. The average self help buyer buys the book and ends at this point, happy that they are "turning things around", lacking the discipline to sit and read hence why they feel the need for a self help book. While reading the book, they think thoughts like "wow this book is so enlightening!" without internalizing or acting on anything said in the book (which doesn't matter as most self help books are cash grabs with garbage advice). By the time they are done one or two practices from the book may remain for a short time, however by 6 months they're the same person 20 dollars short. I'm glad if a self help book has improved your life but for most people they don't. Self help books are commonly on the new York times best seller list because there is such a demand for the illusion they provide. If I were you I would join the circus and make some money off these mouth breathers who buy them.
