how to start?
my idea is that the protag wakes up in a fantasy world naked with a ridiculously huge cock and balls, and he meets mermaid roommates who take him to their city and worship him as a cock god. most of the book will be filled with the sexcapades of the mermaids. like one of the mermaids is caught masterbating and is brought bound and naked to the protag and he must decide her fate.

Everytime I want to start writing a book, I think to myself about how my contributions (no matter how confident I am in their quality) will not be meaningful or add to the net quality of anyone's bookshelf. Any unique and clever short story I write will be just one among many that person will read, and will be forgotten. There is plenty better out there, and why should I crowd the space with something thoroughly average? I have the same feeling that the average /lit/ anon likely has if I were to ask them why they aren't directing films or writing orchestral music.
