what kind of light source do u use for reading /lit/?

pic related. Soft white 100w equivalent bulbs in there. have had those bulbs for 4+ years.

Thats cool. I like lower wattage daylight balanced bulbs myself. Most of the surfaces in my bedroom are tan or dark brown, so with the daylight balanced bulbs bouncing off all the warmer surfaces, it makes for a very neutral feeling. (personally i find daylight bulbs to be just a bit too blue for me)

my main reading light though is one of those halogen lamps from Ikea. like this but silver: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20128795

It definitely strains my eyes when I do, but I don't think it's bad for you necessarily.

inb4, not hipster. where I live, we have hurricanes that knock out the power. This happens about once a year.

also, I read with a really shitty bulb that's supposed to be bad for the environment, but it gives off a nice warm golden glow. makes me feel cozy :]

yeah i would too but I saw this thing about poor people who read by candlelight all the time and they nearly blind now.

idk, but i was in a building built in the 70's that had these REALLY large diameter flourescent bulbs - like 3 - 4 inch diam. - and they were still working after like 30+ years of use. mind u, they weren't puttin off a ton of light, but SOME light was being emitted.
