>reading 5 pages of Schopenhauer feels more intellectually-stimulating and pleasurable to me than reading 100 pages of Dostoyevski
What the fuck is this bullshit? Why does fiction even exist in the first place? Reading philosophy just blows all of fiction out of the water wtf

Fiction is philosophy put into action. It's like an exposition of a philosophical theme, so naturally it's not as heavy as reading just straight philosophy.

There are some fictional books I've gotten more out of than the average philosophy book. Naomi by Tanizaki comes to mind

Cope for little faggot who can't get into philosophical debates because he's too fucking dumb. Philosophy laid ground for anything and everything and literally have met dozens of people who were graduating in literature and asked them why instead of philosophy. All of them answered that they thought philosophy was too abstract and difficult for them, they were too low IQ. Faggots who prefer fiction over philosophy almost always are low IQ dumbasses who can't understand higher and more abstract concepts.

You were poorly educated and had very little intellectual resistances in place to prevent someone else's (albeit rather sound, in this case) logic from "rewiring" your understanding of systems.

It’s taking me fucking five minutes a page to read Crime and Punishment (“one of the most readable novels” according to bullshit blurb). Then again I just started and I’m reading Marmelodick’s painful rambling.
Did I get a bad translation or does he have to call Raskolnikov “Honourable Sir” every five words?

I lived in severe poverty most of my life. He looks well fed to me. He had an income. He had parents that supported him. I didn't have any of that. The fact that you think "no gf" is the worst problem of the world, is a major projection on your part, that's a nothing too. You've both had easy, good lives without real suffering.

Yes, for some reason. Also 5 minutes a page isn't bad, it's pretty good. I think my time was a lot worse when I started out (but to be fair, I didn't start with Crime and Punishment)

Allow me to draw a comparison: philosophy is like espresso, and fiction is like regular drip coffee or an americano. Philosophy is heavy and concentrated, intense. Literature is expanded, played out, watered down with minutiae and details. Neither is better than the other; they serve different purposes. Philosophy is for in-depth, specific analysis, and literature is for experiencing and observing the human condition.

Espresso is designed to be made and consumed quickly and to deliver a strong dose of caffeine. Coffee is made to be enjoyed more slowly. Yes, they both contain caffeine, just as both philosophy and fiction contain truth. But the design and consumption of each are different.

What's better?

>Spending your time reading about depressing abstract theories that make no difference to one's life (why does it matter if things outside me exist or if the categorical imperative is the most reasonable form of morality?) and getting yourself so deeply entrenched in theories, definitions, terminology, minutiae, and complexities that appear absolutely ridiculous to anyone looking at them with a clear head but profound to those who have been weaned onto philosophy, so much so that you can't take a step back and look at life in simple terms

or

>Experiencing the beauty, aesthetic value, psychological insight, emotional impactfulness, and simplicity of a well-written book with good themes, plot, and characters.

That's the problem with philosophy. Even on supposedly important issues like politics it fails tremendously because of its predisposition towards complexity and abstraction. Noam Chomsky remarked how students often get so caught up in philosophical theory when discussing politics that they forget to address the actual issues. So instead of talking about ways to end war or stop discrimination against sexual minorities they begin talking about the individual's relation to group signifiers and all that bullshit that has never helped anyone.

I'll leave you with a quote from Schiller:

>What wise men see not by their wisdom’s art

>Is practiced simply by a childlike heart.
