By far my favourite thing about this board is people throwing names at each other to prove that the enemy is wrong
Also read feuerbach (I haven't read him but you haven't read Kant either)

I think there two Gods:
One of Absolute Good
One of Absolute Evil
And they have a constant war in this plane of existence.

I do not believe in One God or Multiple Gods, just Two.

He is in the process of subduing evil.
In the true end times, good will win.
However, in our present times, evil sometimes wins, but overall, good will have the upper hand in the true end times.
The wise do their best to follow the Good whereas the deluded pick Evil.

Any studies on IQ and religiosity in existence suggest a negative correlation. There are no studies that support a return to religiosity with increasing IQ like the pic I responded to.

Paine was a genius, he should be taught in every school in the world. Same goes for Samuel Adams.
>he didn’t go into this very demiurge like idea.
Not all gnostics were Misotheists, not saying Paine was a gnostic to begin with, gnosticism after all is just a take on the holistic nature of the world and has its roots in Hermeticism.
It isn't a coincidence many Founding fathers were into Freemasonry and the study of ancient teachings, Paine included.

This is pretty much the only statement on god that holds up under scrutiny, all 'proofs' are based on either axioms that aren't founded on anything other than tradition or language games, or they're just circular logic ala Descartes.

what does that tell you that some people have to read the interpretations of someone else, if they themselves fail to understand/interpret that which the translator is interpreting?

Studies like that have a transparently flawed methodology. Obviously if you ask the average person who's uncritically accepted the traditional religion of his culture he's probably not going to be very bright, but if you ask someone whose reasoning for belief is that they've read and understood Aquinas you're going to get people who're smart enough to deal with that kind of level intellectually.

that's not how statistics works anon, if the general believer is a dumb ass and 1 in 100 reads Aquinas and is intelligent, then you proved him right. the existence of a smart person in the group of x does not prove the intelligence of x's group

I'm not sure if there have been many studies on something like "certainty", but my intuition tells me that less intelligent people generally tend to be more certain of themselves (probably could find a study on this), so it's doubtful it would start at 0 for the lower IQ persons, they would only be less capable of defending their belief in a cogent way (a different graph: ability to argue well(whether internally or externally)). However, I suspect it might follow a more V shaped pattern (what the original graph should have graphed), since a more intelligent person might need more thought-out, analytical reasons to believe. So you hit the nail on the head with what the original graph should have been rather than this unsupported, vague meme regarding "midwit" atheists. Nevertheless, you should consider the coincidence that your graph (certainty of god) would correlate perfectly with "ability to argue well" would also correlate the same way with atheists, the only difference being that higher IQ's tend to be less religious, so your graph is self cancelling in the end, you could also say atheists are more certain of their atheism if they're more intelligent. Bringing up IQ's will never help a theist in the end.
