what do you think are the most controversial/shocking books ever written?

this is an assignment i'm doing for class, and i have a long enough list already that i'm struggling to cull. i was just wondering your thoughts

here's some examples to get you started

lolita
ulysses
satanic verses
arabian nights
120 days of sodom

that kinda think

i don't really want to include stuff like roald dahl and mark twain because, you know, although they were challenged and that in their time...i want the meatier stuff.

any ideas?

Conrad "Heart of Darkness"
unironically, "The Bible"
Miller "Tropic of Cancer"
Milton's "Paradise Lost" (for making the devil seem sympathetic)
Stowe's "Uncle Tom's Cabin"
Golding "Lord of the Flies"
Burroughs' "Junky" or "Naked Lunch"
