Ordered it in the mail when I was getting out-processed from the army as a trainee. Outer Dark, Blood Meridian, No Longer Human, and One Hundred Years of Solitude were the only books I had and I read them each several times while I was stuck in the outprocessing barracks (was there over a month). still one of the comfiest reading experiences I've had, curled up in my locker in the dead of winter in Missouri.
>mfw people always came up to my bunk and said "you look really into that book anon, can i read it when you're done?"
>"you're not gonna like it"
>mfw they don't listen and demand it anyways
>mfw they always bring it back within the hour
>mfw they all (males and females both) passed around copies of John Green novels instead

from wikipedia:
>The time and setting are nebulous, but can be assumed to be somewhere in Appalachia, sometime around the turn of the twentieth century.
dude living innawoods with his sister Sweet Home Alabamas her, then disposes of the baby. Sister still wants it and sets out in search for it. Story follows those two characters and another separate group of mysterious individuals. Plenty of biblical allusions, nihilism, and the "natural incoherence", for lack of a better term, that is present in lots of McCarthy's work. It's not quite as beautiful as BM but it definitely has the kind of writing you linger on.
