The Eightfold Path does contain sexual misconduct which is generally left vague and can be anything from "Don't rape" to "Don't have any sex."

However, if things that cause desire, such as emotions in general, typically lead to suffering unless held in check and treated in moderation, then it is generally optimal to avoid such suffering by trying to find enlightenment without shallow pleasure. Sex is a drug and doing it over and over and over will lessen the sensation, not leading to genuine happiness but simply a high you get. Granted you can take an Epicurean view of sex and say to limit it to receive the maximum amount of pleasure, however that doesn't solve the issue here.

The goal instead would be to find inner contentment within yourself so that having sex like a mindless beast isn't what drives you as is following the path that will bring you the most inner peace. Otherwise, sex will just be another retinue of the body you must commit to because of your untempered and overpowering desires installed by animistic goals, which will eventually end in "pain" for both you and your partner(s) in some form, be it that the passion is gone, or that its just not satisfying. Therefore, it is just to conclude sex is not the most optimal situation in every philosophical circumstance in terms of gratification.
