Anyone here trying to get their dads into more /lit/ books? My dad used to read almost exclusively books on WW2 and the civil war, but I've gotten him to start sprinkling more ancient history in there. So far he's read and enjoyed a couple secondary books on the greeks and romans, a lot of the landmark books like Herodotus and Caesar, and now i'm trying to get him to read Plutarch and Thucydides. So I'm looking for more recommendations in this vein, particularly european history from the 11th to 19th centuries, but also some classic /lit/ that has historical significance like Candide which he also liked.

The last time that I saw my father reading, it was the manual of a Datsun.

I suggested Stoner to my dad and he said it was really depressing and asked if I suggested it to him because of how his life has played out
