What I do is read a paragraph or two and then browse a board to open up threads in new tabs. Then I check out a thread after every few paragraphs. Once every thread has been checked, I'll instead look for new posts in the threads.

I go through about 30 books a year, give or take 5-10 depending on length, and the only time I read is on the 30-minute subway ride to/from work.
