How does /lit/ read books?
Do you buy from book store? Do your buy from Amazon? Do you use an e-reader? Do you torrent books? Do you read from computer monitor or laptop? Do you use b-ook.org? Do you use libgen?

Not a data mining thread. I'm just interested.

70% from op shops
20% from family and friends
5% from booktopia.com
5% pdf downloads

I find my favourite books second hand from op shops and I worry less about creasing and crinkling the pages.

Piracy, library, internet shops, in that order. Unfortunately I live in a shitty tourist area and all the locally owned bookstores are scammers who buy shit off ebay and sell it for triple the price. Saw a $20 franklin library whitman I bought off eBay going for $80 at one of these local places.

Piracy 100% of my e-books. If you buy books at a time when you can get them for free it clearly signals that you have less than 100 iq.

You are part of the problem why good authors are going hungry.

If someone wants to write, it is assumed that he no longer cares about money. Writers for money must suffer anyway.

- Kindle
- Torrent some and put them on my Kindle
- Buy from bookstores (specially for classic literature or books that have recently come out)
- I buy online (Amazon or Booktopia.com.au)
- I read the Kick-Ass: Dave Lizewski Years comics on my old computer when I was younger

The majority of my books are from Amazon. Some are from used book stores. I like annotating my books so I usually buy new/unmarked.
Never bought an ebook or a kindle. The only reason I can think to use one would be if I were traveling and didn’t want to haul around an 800 page behemoth.

Money is hardly an object to me and I prefer hard copies. I will gladly hand over a fart’s worth of money so that I can have the physical copy and fill my library.

I buy from Indigo (Canada). Mostly online, sometimes in person.

My problem with printed copies is that sometimes it’s difficult to get exactly the book you need, especially when it comes to a particular edition and translation.

>> No.13301628

I usually use Amazon, but I just bought a $300 book from Abebooks.com.

I’m at the end of the expected time for delivery. If it doesn’t come today this will NOT be the last you hear of it. :3

I buy my books in Bookoff, a second hand shop in Japan, I never know what I'm going to find. Sometimes online from japanese e-commerces, and sometimes on Amazon when I really want to read a book but I can't find it anywhere.

300$ isn't to ridiculous of a price, I've got books costing more and I wouldn't say I've paid to much.

>> No.13301865

if i want something specific, i go to the little independent bookstore on my lane and order it from them. it's nice to support them and they do a loyalty card thing where i get a stamp each time i order something and a free book after every ten
if i just want to browse books and find something random that looks cool, i go to oxfam. i probably get most of my books there and it's nice to find cool things i didn't know i wanted and chat with helen, the retired theology teacher who works there and help support aid workers fucking foreign prostitutes
