Some people just want to fuck, because it's fun. Waiting to find "the one" and building a relationship with that person is tedious and unnecessary.

Never mind that a relationship where both parties know they're just temporary enjoyment can also be emotionally satisfying.

I've had friendships where we've both known it was just a thing until we found new friend-groups, but that doesn't mean we didn't have an emotionally satisfying relationship, it just meant that when it ended, it was easy and mutual and there was no reason for hard feelings or sadness.

two people having fun for a night is also an emotional agreement between two people, and if that's all a person wants at the moment, they should be able to engage in it without being considered a degenerate for it.

My argument was hook up culture is an equalizing social egalitarianism and that the consequences for that lead to the lowest common denominator.
To take that further, Donald Trump speeches are measured at the lowest it's ever been, fourth grade. Why do we speak that low, children in fourth grade do not vote and the average level of education of completion for non college graduates is about 10th-11th grade. My point is egalitarianism never stops and I applied that to age and sex.

I'm not a christian so i'll disregard all those criticisms, but i do believe that all easy pleasure is "morally degenerate" and sex is no exception. That said, I do think it's a bit atavistic to be authoritarian about it and I'm fine with us all being free to indulge in a bit of degeneracy of our choosing.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume young people aren't ready for it either. It's very common in arranged marriages that the couple fall in love after getting married. This is pretty much sums it up.
The mechanism of "losing the feeling of novelty" feels insufficient and disconnected. But in the end, anyone who's lived life and thinks honestly about this knows it's generally true. Short or shallow relationships are fundamentally different and make you numb to love. In the long run, a series of relationships isn't fulfilling, or nowhere near as fulfilling as a long term relationship.
