It's a translation that shares the faults of any other translation (aside from the poor quality ones). The only time when hate is really warranted is with those insane protestant pastors who claim the KJV is the direct word of God and is absolutely perfect.

But what is the true original Hebrew/ Greek language Bible?

>> No.13264763

It's written for peasants. The whole point of Latin was to preserve the benefits of clergy and avoid personal interpretation.
Most of those Catholics are dead for about three hundred years though. Most Catholic schools and universities use KJV for English literature because it's a major work which sets the vernacular for the past four hundred years. It'd be like trying to teach modern Chinese without Cao Xueqin.

Whatever Pope Innocent ratified, but seriously if you're trying to make a point I get it, but it's best to read and understand the bible in a holistic way than just arbitrarily trying to stick with one manuscript.

Divinely-inspired not divinely written, the Bible isn't God's personally written book, it is his Church's creation (assuming you believeof course). Who the fuck knows about specific reasons why x and why not y, we just have to deal with what we have.

>> No.13264859

is the Latin vulgate 100% perfect?

>> No.13264867

>>13264859
no, the original languages will be better but latin vulgate is the best if you want the bible in ONE language only. other good translations are douay-rheims and if you know spanish, then read torres amat. avoid KJV protestant bible.

i recommend checking out Ethiopian bible as well since it has the most books out of all biblical canons. only do this after reading the entirety of the catholic canon (i recommend because it has protestant canon and then a half dozen or so books more)

>KJV chooses aesthetics over meaning.
>he can't read Greek

No, it doesn't. In fact it is faithful down to peculariar tense (Mark often uses present tense), and puts inserted words in italics, two features no other translation is scrupulous enough to do

>> No.13264888

>>13264876
aesthetically it's okay; historically it's important, but generally the KJV excludes many books that are historically a part of the catholic canon, also there are changes in the text that some view as important to doctrine

Douay Rheims is far worse than KJV aesthetically. Catholic bias will never admit this, but the KJV is the most beautiful translation of the bible in English.

>For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

>For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.

First is KJV and the second is Douay-Rheims. Tell me honestly which is better.

Catholics hate the Bible in general, the Gospels most of all.
