So I'm a Pessimist. My life has pretty much been filled with suffering and I don't believe in God. I don't want to be in a relationship and I don't want kids. Also interacting with most people bores/annoys me. Is there a socially acceptable way to pretty much disengage from life while still working a relatively normal office job? I had a college professor who was never married or never had kids (History dept.), I just feel like lacking these things will make people negatively judge you.

I don't want to:

I'm in Academia, I figure maybe if I'm good at my job people will fuck off and not bother me about not really fitting into social norms. I was also thinking about buying a ring to pretend to be married (I'm 28, getting closer to marriage age).
