Well I mean I can understand Mishima's reasoning behind it which is very Japanese in a way, suppose I'm looking at it from too much of a European view. It's been a while since I read it and I have ADD and reading 10 books at a time so I will be a bit rusty but he used it to convey the sense of duality within man and its convergence to a desire of longing. Although like many artists the meaning is secondary to the "feeling" of the form and so to overly define this meaning of expression would overcome the conveyance of the art form which is the said "feeling" of the book. Tarkovsky was over the top with this but it is a good example for how obvious he made this fact in his films, take Stalker for example: it focuses around meaning and purpose in the meaningless world without defining it anymore than this as it exists to simply enhance the feeling of the film.

But at what point anon would you say degeneracy should not be contained within a book? I am speaking of the degeneracy which still has purpose for the story but not shock factor. Surely there must be a cut off? In an ideal society there may be a book of a paedophile and a rape of a child may be used purposefully to describe this man in a better light. Would then we remove such a book or such a part of a book? Same question goes for all forms of art anon.

the truth is, people with no sense of right or wrong will be inspired by any work of art. charles manson used the White Album to justify his beliefs for example. if you are so retarded to pick up a book about a pedophile and think "I NOW WANT TO FUCK A LITTLE GIRL" because of a sex scene with a child. that's a personal problem and you have no business reading

>> No.13221764

>>13221703
It was an exaggerated example you fool, because of its exaggeration the point still remains. Let us say it is not a book of such point but it simply contains that, what then you fool? How long until the reactionary fools find it and over a course of intent manifestation of this degeneracy society itself becomes degenerated? Even say if the book was so direct it would not inspire to make one "fuck a little girl" as you so idiotically said but give leniency to such a people where leniency should be no where to be found.

And yes it is true what you that people with no sense of right or wrong would be inspired by any work of art, however there must be a prime origin, whether it is from Manson telling them these things or it was found to be in a work of art (no matter how shitty) whether subtly or directly it does not change the point of the effectual. Would Manson not of been indoctrinated somehow? I would think I have business reading if it were to advocate for paedophilia.

Anon you have been beaten and now return to picking at small unnecessary details to fuel your ego. You are a degenerate who cannot accept the truth and so must defend it by rejecting all that is good in the name of "art". No worse than the faggots who claimed having sex in front of primary school children is "art". Just because your Daddy didn't fucking love you doesn't mean you have to be a degenerate anon.

A degeneracy is that which degenerates mankind is someway. A catabolic force you imbecile.

And please tell me who these progenitors of Western civilisation were that also happened to be as you say "pedophiles, hebephiles, and homosexual/bisexuals". And yes anon you know nothing the nature of a civilisation if you cannot see the signs and effects of sexual degeneration. At the collapse of Every empire by its own means it has been sexually degenerative, of all the great civilisations they have always been at their lowest and less creative point at their most sexually degenerate. Man becomes so focused with pleasure he is constrained by it, in his "liberation" he has become imprisoned. His wasting on individual pleasure and not the self sacrifice to that of the greater good. Training your concentration to that of the purposeless that does not escape the ego.

A degenerate must always rationalise his own faults, and this, this action has been at the heart of many contemporary ideology's and "art".

No, I mean the enlightenment. The dark age is called the dark age by people who were part of the enlightenment. They considered the age to be dark because society was almost solely held together by the church after Rome had fallen and minor plagues were sweeping across Europe every few dozen years.
This, in combination with their tendency to be protestant or at least born and raised in a protestant country, has caused enlightenment inspired historians/histories to be woefully lacking in anything pertaining to the middle ages. God forfuckingbid we discuss the Viking era. God forbid we discuss the rise of the Frankish kingdoms and the formation of the Holy Roman Empire. Shan't we ignore the slavic migrations southward as well? Fuck the Byzantines too. Ain't got time for anything except muh Augustus and muh crusades.
As for our list up there, they didn't even bother discussing the fall of the Roman empire, let alone any of the things I mentioned above. No Nero. No Caligula. No Marcus Aurelius. No Trajan. No Hadrian. No persecution of Christians. No Constantine. None of it.

Fuck. The. Enlightenment.

It is by far the least interesting aspect of one of the most impressive and interesting countries on the globe. Going from backward feudal samurai-court to a full-fledged industrial naval power that dares to go toe-to-toe with the greatest military power on earth and wins, just 40 years after their modernization drive.
And you pick the one memetastic cringey soccermom/redneck hick topic to represent them.

Why is Hitler on there? Why is Bismarck on there? Obviously the only thing you need to read about is the torture during 30 years war and the 10 million rapes committed by germans on the eastern front. KYS.

I've read biographies on all the Romanovs and most Rurikids of note, why should I then go and buy some super general all-encompassing work? 95% of the time they bring nothing new to the table, brush past any serious developments with perhaps a shallow remark or two, and leave you unsatisfied and not much wiser than when you started reading. Red Tsar and Potemkin was good, so I have considered it just as a refresher, but I doubt it would delve much into the military might of Russia, its organization or military industries.

not the op here but a chart >>13221172 that goes from:
romans -> crusades is insane, basically skipping everything straight to the early high medival era.

>then the list has no qualms of immediatly going into the 20th century after 2 fucking rows
>then goes and does 2 rows of just WW1 and the european poltical theater for the early 20th century
>then 1 row only for ww2, the cold war, AND the scramble for africa??
>then we go back to the exploration age(?) of late renaissance europe? just so we can shoehorn in some MURICA manifest destiny crap(?) along with mexican revolution-era history?

this chart is great at portraying the stereotype of the south-western american 'historian' who just gets a huge boner for the worldwars when they were a teen then goes and starts studying more history in tertiary level education then realizes 'oh man this isnt tanks and guns and politics of europe man what a drag'

Im not even a fucking historian, i am a casual myself and even i fucking know this list is moronic with a fucking random focus on this guy's pet topics.

also like if youre gonna just go balls deep into the WW's then at least give a good round general intro to the whole subject not just random sections of the wars
>no pacific theater, no africa theater for ww1 or 2

you know i just went up to see what was the title of this fucking chart and im not even surprised, garbage
