Why is everyone so obsessed with Soren Kierkegaard? He is nothing but a wannabe Nietzsche-light with a christian twist. Nietzsche literally leaves him in the dust. Kierkegaard's philosophy is redundant and superfluous (at least to anybody who's IQ is worth a damn).

I don't know, I think Kierkegaard fucking sucks. I don't see Nietzsche in him, rather a prefiguring of that other great existentialist pseud Camus, only not nearly as entertaining to read.

His literary formalism is unsurpassed. There is a level of artistry to his philosophy. He embraces the logical and emotional and produces forms akin to the satire of Jonathan Swift.

But, sweetie, this thread isn’t about the fanboys.

To be honest, I don’t understand how this isn’t very clear: both Kierkegaard and Nietzsche give your internal reasoning purpose and actually transform the reality based on your will (Kierkegaard literally is this empowering- it’s why both of them are existentialists). However, Kierkegaard’s ideas of this nature are grounded in Faith, whereas Nietzsche’s are grounded in his ‘totem morality’ system. One of these is somewhat watery and chaotic the other is pure and fulfilling. Can you guess which ones?

Is there any reason why Nietzsche is considered one of the greatest philosophers of all time, or is it a conspiracy against Christianity?

Kierky teaches you how to go to the depths of introspection and self-criticism, when it comes to actually "learning to live" he's one of the most valuable philosophers to read. Nietzsche just took from Goethe, Schopenhauer and the pre-Socratics and mixed it with his wealth of insecurities (which he was too cowardly and arrogant to confront directly like Kierkegaard).

The most important difference between Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, and the most important merit of Kierkegaard, is that the former could comprehend and contain his demonic while the latter couldn't. Kierkegaard is also way more analytic overall, and while rich on irony, doesn't go and blatantly contradict himself (especially if you take care to familiarise yourself with his characters and pseudonyms), while Nietzsche detests analyticity with Socrates and throws it away for uninhibited poetic flow.

>> No.13217496

>>13216865
What Nietzsche called "faith" and what Kierkegaard called "faith" were very different things. Kierkegaard's faith is itself very peculiar, but I believe that Nietzsche was a bit too much swayed by his emotions to see Christianity for what it actually is, and while it's up to debate how much of Kierkegaard's Christianity is actually Christianity and how much of it is something completely different, one can look at the way more down-to-earth Christianity of Chesterton, for example, and while it won't be perfect, it would also be different from the picture Nietzsche draws, differing not only poetically but also conceptually.
