The English rabble-sporting every form of philistine and defective imaginable, jeered on their parody of war, the spectacle of our society the grand consumer of the low brow mind. Football.

i'm not a good writer, but the opening of underworld by delillo really nicely captures the feel of a crowd at a sporting event, both the huge disparity of individuals within any cross section of spectators and also the overarching sweep of drama that encapsulates them all and binds them together
it's very good and i'd recommend reading at least just that chapter if you like this webm

you know the Idiot that Judge Holden brings around with him near the end of Blood Meridian? Every single person in this I can imagine as being the Idiot.

>> No.13217064

Little spiny man shouting in my face. His face, is unearthly clean and naked, it’s naturally discomforting. There’s something odd about the way his mouth connects to his eyes and chin, he’s spitting with so much power but there’s a clear weakness to be seen in plain sight in the hidden folds of his frowning wrinkles, burnt into his skin through repeated masochistic angry posturing. Suddenly I notice the swarm of corpses crowding in around him. One man is jeering at me with his tongue out, his eyes rolling around and falling in and out of their normal places in his decimated sockets. Another man is practicing his videography with happy pig like avarice. His smirking gestating expression conjures images of writhing worms as teeth and gums made of the excrement of insects. His head could be conformed to a new born babe ready for the first pleasureable taste of suckle and no one would be the wiser. Another man raises himself from the grave right before my very eyes. His head is carved from stone, his eyes are worried, the heavy weight of his contemplating forehead crushing in on him. The unmistakable mark of anxiety, for he knows he’s in the company of ghosts.

From left to right:
>Derek Wop, lost a portion of his jaw in a motorcycle accident and suffered traumatic brain damage, now allegedly believes himself a chinaman
>Janet Wop, wife of Derek, local primary PE teacher, has a thing about making the girls change in front of her
>Milton Mungo, known affectionately to his friends as "Munter", eats mustard by the jar and punches light switches when the bulb blows
>Graham Digby, plumber and occasional dogger
>Kevin Hughman, an upright fella, conscious and aware of his surroundings
>Simon Beverley, 54, trapped in a semi-permanent vegetative state, able to wake only to see if it was offside or not

The guy on the right makes me really sad. Is he okay? It makes me sad that people are making fun of him.

I hate when people are vulnerable like that. Life is cruel enough as it is.

I mean, he's clearly conscious and well enough to attend a football match. Even if he does have a debilitating problem, I don't think its fair to exempt him from the ridicule, he deserves to be treated like a human being and all human beings deserve to be made fun of
