When will the memes like Whitehead, Land and Guénon die? They're getting stale.

>> No.13175944

when this board goes back down to 50% of its current population, and the newfag phoneposters stop spamming threads like
>Redpill me on what I should read if I'm a socks-and-sandals kind of guy?

so, never. this board is now "the subreddit for people who intend, at some point, to be seen as someone who reads books."

/lit/ works best when moderators only permit a bare minimum of "What type of Oreo is most literary to eat?"-type threads. Some of that shit is fine for board culture or whatever, but just take a look at the catalog. Nearly every thread is some kind of low-effort Reddit horseshit from a tourist.

/lit/ has never really been moderated from what i've seen. Threads rarely ever get deleted. I assume they only do if there is a high amount of reports or something.

Land and Whitehead arent memes though their use to be good threads with great discussion until they turned into memes, so what your arguing against is the culture of a board to oversimplify a philosophers message into a ironic one liner or stigma which spreads like a plague on here.

Everyone, EVERYONE needs to commit themselves to reporting off-topic threads when they see them. This is really important, since it's clear that /lit/ either doesn't have a dedicated mod, or the mod we DO have is a lazy piece of shit who needs severe motivation to do anything worthwhile. Therefore, /lit/ needs to commit itself to reporting all Reddit, /r9k/, and /pol/-tier threads. Everyone who posts on this board and cares about it needs to do their part, especially because if only a few of us do the reporting the mod will probably get mad and ban us for "abusing the report function."

We need to do so much reporting that either /lit/ will finally get a dedicated mod, or the mod we do have gets so cranky that he quits and is replaced by another one, one who will actually do his fucking job.

>> No.13176456

>>13176434
yea that's actually a perfect way to sum it up, the thing is, when the meme spreads and gets induced into a reality for those who don't understand the philosophers it becomes ironic in itself that people follow in a congoline of sorts creating a train of unironic irony.

>> No.13176467

>>13176437
Agreed, there has to be an elite secret group of /lit/ warrior monks who dedicates themselves to reporting the more egregiously low-effort and off-topic posts. Even 3-5 reports per shitty thread would shoot it up in the report cue.

If those truly awful threads were cleaned up, the more borderline cases would follow. We wouldn't even need to be obsessive about it. Just report garbage like:
