Does anyone here use a typewriter?
How did you find your typewriter?
How's maintenance and ribbon on it?

The one in the picture is decently cheap on amazon, but all the reviews are either extremely good or bad depending on if it was damaged during shipping or is a faulty batch. I'm scared to throw down 130 bucks for something that might not work. Every one I find at Goodwill is an electric, which just doesn't seem aesthetic visually or in use. And it's not like theres a fuckin' typewriter store. I feel like writing with a typewriter would cut out distraction, force me to think about what I write, and would be legible compared to my hand writing. What's your experience with them?

I have a couple that my mom found at estate sales. I like to use them occasionally since I'm retarded and easily distracted on computers, but I can't see why any serious or disciplined writer would use one unless they happen to live without electricity or have some hipster thing about muh aesthetics.

Yes, a Hermes 3000 portable. Like pic related, with a shell cover and handle.

I found it in a vintage shop.

Replacing ribbons is easy. I'll have to figure it out if something breaks.

I bought it because I was dating a lit gf at the time, was in the Army and I wanted something I could use on forms, and because it'll still work when SHTF.

why yes, i do own a typewriter for seemingly no reason. got it for 15$ from some old guy on avito (online marketplace), fully working except the "enter" lever, i scroll down to next line manually

honestly i only use it rarely for lulz, i like the chad thunderous banging of its keys. i prefer writing by hand.

Jesus Christ you are insufferable. Imagine hiking with your friends, passing a joint, laughing it up, sitting around the fire joking and joshing, and this faggot whips out a fucking typewriter
